READ SYNOPSIS

Chrissy & Sheldon's turbulent love story continues in Part 2 of their journey. This continuation is the fourth book in Lula White's Sag Harbor Black Romances series.

Still ensnared in her marriage with Blake, Chrissy is scared to finally cut the cord of her toxic but financially lucrative old life. Sheldon is beyond frustrated that Chrissy won't let go of her past.

But his own ex-wife shows up in New York. Sheldon's first night of summer vacation with Chrissy is crashed when Eugenia has a medical emergency. Bringing along all their unresolved marital baggage, Eugenia is not to be ignored.

The easy "celebration summer" Chrissy and Sheldon had planned is anything but. Chrissy is in search of her voice and identity as a single woman rediscovering herself, her passion and her forfeited dreams. Sheldon is a man caught between old wounds and new love, while he tries to learn from his prior mistakes.

Now, Blake's schemes and Eugenia's sneak moves are tearing Sag Harbor's newest couple apart before they've even taken flight. The melee leaves only one question:

Can Chrissy and Sheldon survive?

“If you sleep with her, don’t come back.”

Return to the hotbed of luxury, romance, and rivalry in the Black Hamptons.

This medium-heat romance is Sag Harbor's longest book. Follow childhood friends and thirty-somethings Chrissy, Maddy, and Adella as they tackle love and heartache on their rise. Black luxury and sensuality continues in the Hamptons.

READ EXCERPT

“Cut the bullsh*t. Sheldon, have you f*cked her?”

“No.”

Her stare excavated his face for any skeletons of a lie.

Sheldon’s expression held all the timidity of a boy who didn’t want a whipping. His eyes were unwavering as they stared back at her, and he didn’t blink.

“Chris, I swear. We have not.”

“And how many other times has she kissed you? Don’t say that was the first. Are you sleeping in the same bed?”

He blinked.

That movement alone torpedoed her head down to earth. “Oh, God. You promised you wouldn’t.”

“Most nights, we don’t.”

“Most nights?” Chrissy’s words were more like a vomit hurl.

“Sometimes we fall asleep doing one activity or another with Hadar.”

“So, the two of you have been intimate.”

Sheldon’s jaw looked ripe for slapping.

To control the urge, she gave him her back. With her chest burning, Chrissy let it lead her to the tall French patio doors facing the ocean. Unlocking them, she walked toward the night tide. The waves crashing onto jagged rocks seemed to mimic her life. Yachts and cruise ships sailed under the summer stars. Only two weeks before, Chrissy had so anticipated that’s where she and Sheldon would be—on a boat with the children before bedtime and then making endless love.
She felt Sheldon following her, an arm’s length away. Of all the times they’d come to the beach or stood near water, this was the first where he wasn’t holding her.
He answered. “Yes. Genie has moved on me while I try to connect with Hadar. He needs me.”

“Stop saying it’s about Hadar,” she heard herself mutter.
Sheldon pulled back at the animal-like growl that rumbled from her. Chrissy sounded foreign even to herself, as her brain scanned his words for what was truth and what was fiction.

He continued, “It’s not. It’s about the way you’re handling this, about you still being caught up with her.”

“But I have to go through Genie to bond with him.”

Searing coals couldn’t have burned hotter than Chrissy’s blood. “My question is what will you do… to get through her?”

Sheldon’s eyes fell away. Silence. What he didn’t say was enough to rock the bones holding up Chrissy’s soul.

“Have you actually told her you’re not going back to her? Have you told Hadar?”

“Chrissy, it’s complicated, and of all people, I expected you would know from dealing with Blake.”

She needled him with a hard glare. “Stop feeding your son a fantasy. He has to learn reality just like my son did.”

“But your son had me. My own son did not. I’m trying to be the man you wish Blake was.” Sheldon’s entire body shook. His own frustration could have tossed with the ocean currents. “Chris, if you could wave a magic wand and turn Blake into a better man for his kids, I know you would. You love me because I work so hard to be all he’s not. Don’t tell me not to be an upright man now with my own flesh and blood!”

Chrissy stifled the sob erupting from her throat. “Are you giving Eugenia hope that you’re going back to her? Is that what that kiss is about?”

She had a dreadful, heavy sense that something more had anchored Genie in the Hamptons. And Sheldon wasn’t telling her the full truth.

Chrissy & Sheldon's turbulent love story continues in their second book. While Chrissy is still ensnared in her marriage with Blake, Sheldon's ex-wife shows up in New York, and brings all their unresolved marital baggage with her. In this single parents beach read, can Chrissy and Sheldon survive?
